Service

The Marshall Catholic Newman Center is about to embark on an brand new service iniative!
We will be the newest home base in Huntington for The Gabriel Project of West Virginia

For more than 14 years The Gabriel Project has been providing immediate, practical and tangible assistance to expectant mothers and families in need.  Volunteers (known as Gabriel Angels) also provide emotional support, answer questions about baby care, offer informative materials and make referrals to other social service organizations.

The Newman Center is currently developing a space and training student volunteers for this amazing outreach.  We are also always looking for baby items to keep our facility stocked and ready for baby needs.  We will always accept in-kind, tax deductible donations of the following:

  • New cribs, mattresses and bumper pads
  • New car seats for infants and toddlers
  • New or gently used high chairs and strollers
  • Diapers of all sizes
  • Unopened, unexpired baby food and/or formula
  • New or gently used infant, toddler and maternity clothing
  • Storage bins, baskets and totes

We are always interested in partnering with other campus organizations and local church groups for diaper and/or baby item drives, or other fundraising initiatives.  Call or stop by the Newman Center for more information or ways to get involved.  Keep an eye on our calendar and facebook page for student volunteer meetings and trainings.
